Welcome to Turun normaalikoulu
Turun Normaalikoulu, The Teacher Training School of Turku University, consists of primary school, secondary school and upper secondary school. In the upper secondary school we have two separate programmes to follow: The AB-programme (in Finnish) and the IB programme (in English).
Mission Statement
Turun normaalikoulu is an educational establishment that respects human values. The school aims at the well-balanced development of its pupils. In addition to the academic objectives, the central task of teaching is to support and guide pupils in order to develop their independence, collaboration and responsibility as well as ensure that their self-respect will be built on strong foundations. Furthermore, the school's aim is to help pupils and teacher trainees to grow as individuals and become citizens able to cope with the requirements and challenges of the changing world.
Turun normaalikoulu (TNK) or Norssi, as we like to call it, has two important missions that are closely intertwined. Firstly, it is part of the Faculty of Education of Turku University as it plays a central role in the training of prospective teachers. Secondly, it provides education from primary to upper secondary level.
Turun normaalikoulu is the largest teacher training school operating in one locality in Finland. The oldest roots can be traced back to Karelia in the late 1700s. The school has been in its present location in Varissuo since 1980. Turun normaalikoulu has 130 teachers and 250 teacher trainees working on the same premises. There are more than 900 pupil in Turun normaalikoulu.
Turun normaalikoulu has been a UNESCO-school since 1999. Currently about twenty nationalities are represented in the student body of approximately 900 students. Co-operation both at national and international level is of high importance for the school, which also takes part actively in EU projects.
Due to its nature as a teacher training unit, Turun normaalikoulu is a forerunner in implementing, developing and testing new educational methods, technology and curricula. Various specialized programmes can be found at the different levels ranging from bilingual education to the arts. The school has been engaged in distance teaching since 1995.

Ja rokki soi!

Ja rokki soi!
Tänään koko koulu sai nauttia lukion musiikkiprojektikurssin konsertista. Teemana oli 80-luvun pop/rock musiikki ja hittikappaleet raikuivat auditoriossa. Myös yleisö pääsi mukavasti kasarimusiikin tunnelmiin mukaan!
